'The Vanguard's tips for co-existance'

  • · Use good judgment.
  • · NEVER rely on information or opinions exchanged via the forums or chat rooms to replace necessary, personal consultations with actual high council members.
  • · Before you act on the word of a seemingly well intended character, find out for yourself if what is told, is accurate.
  • · Remember that what's right or has worked for one person may not be what's right for you.
  • · Lend a helping hand. A bit of compassion can go a long way toward helping a member with life's challenges and reaching out can help alleviate feelings of Confusion.
  • · Role playing is not a "natural act" for everyone.
  • · We're all different, but we're really all the same.
  • At sometime or another, we all need or want help or simply someone with whom we can share our burdens or successes. Even a noble elf needs a helping hand.
  • · Welcome new members. When newcomers arrive, say "hi" and welcome them.
  • · Help new folks "learn the ropes" about how to find information and resources, save time, and how to get involved. It is not easy being new.

Joining The House

Le hannon a tholed**

We are a group of like minded individuals, friends first and foremost, so if you are interested in joining, click on the links to the members pages and get to know us.  Soon, there will be a section of the forums in which you can leave your petitions. (Meaning, tell us why you wish to join, tell us a little of yourself and a peek into the character you wish to create.)

This is a house for those who wish to have fun, for those that wish to delve into the world of RP at their own pace,a stepping stone those that wish to get their feet wet, and those who have a spot in their heart for Middle Earth as Tolkien wrote it. In other words, we are a Tolkien based house. Though it is not required, we recommend being familiar with Arda as TOLKIEN wrote it, and not relying on the movie version (as fantastic as they were. At least be amenable to constuctive criticism, if the need arises.)

We use www.imvu.com as a way to create and 'visually' interact with our characters using avitars. If you aren't familiar with it, check it out, it's free. There are places in the forums for those that wish to set up RP's for a continuous tale, or house their tales being spun on IMVU. AGAIN. YOU DO NOT NEED TO JOIN  IMVU TO JOIN OUR COMMUNITY.

While this community is open to registrants of all ages, there are areas that are pass-keyed to 18+, where minors are not granted access. Likewise, there are pass-keyed areas for -18 members. (The under 18 boards can only be viewed by the under 18 crowd and The High Council, for security purposes. The 18+ boards are only accessible to those that are over 18.)

For those younger than 18, you may also wish to see Queen Naerra of Krynn. (CLICK HERE TO BE TRANSPORTED VIA PORTAL TO KRYNN. Please keep all appendages and things you wish to keep inside the ride at all times.) Should you make your way to Krynn, please pass along our fondest greetings.

Contact me with any questions you may have at nolemire @ hotmail. com  (take out the spaces before you hit send!)

PLEASE READ,UNDERSTAND, AND BECOME FAMILIAR WITH THE FOLLOWING:

PLEASE check back often so as not to miss any updates. Ask questions if something is not clear to you.

*All new members MUST read and agree to the rules of conduct and the RP guidelines of the house. By agreeing to become a member of the House, they are swearing fealty/swearing to follow the rules the House stands on.

*Your character should be in keeping with Tolkien's world.

*In accordance with the previous, all members are assumed to have read/understood/agreed to the guidelines. Therefore any misconduct or breach in behavior shall be met with swift and decisive actions, including but not limited to suspension of posting privileges and/or expulsion from the House itself.

*All members must read the histories of the House members. I realize not all member stories are there yet. There are a few tales yet to be placed into the archives. However those that ARE there deserve to be read, and read more than once, many of them. Everyone here has put a lot of thought into their persona and that should not be disregarded. How can one truly understand another person, their actions, or their intentions, if we do not try to learn as much of them and their story as we can. And how can we call ourselves a house if we refuse to learn such, when it has been offered to us on gilded platters? Don’t forget to check often as they are updated.

*There are several sites listed for reference throughout the forums and on the main page (www.taliessin.bravehost.com). Make use of them. Again, if you have questions, ask. The only stupid question is the one that goes un-asked.

RP guidelines

*Remember this is a House of refuge, healing, sharing, learning, and creativity. There is enough strife in the outside world. It does not need to infiltrate these walls.

*No drawing weapons on another member of the household, unless it is in jest or has been cleared with that member ahead of time.

*No assuming the actions of another character. An assumed laugh, greeting, etc is one thing. True actions are another. If you worry that you might be crossing that line, clear it with that member first. There are those here who are very familiar with each other and are very comfortable with each acting for the other. Are you one of them? If you are unsure, ASK. It is always better to be on the safe side, than to offend. We are all individuals. Some of our answers may surprise you. Some of our actions may surprise you. If you assume the actions of another, you could be missing out on a wonderful twist or turn of events that might have occurred if you'd simply let that person answer for themselves.

*Be creative, but be in this world. Do your best to educate yourself, ask questions, read, etc. Many of us are still learning the ins and outs of this world. But we'd like to keep it intact. If you are unsure of a detail, be vague. It is far better, in my opinion, to gloss over it now, then educate yourself and fill it in later. But do not recreate a world we are already enamored of. There is something to be said for creative license...but do not throw a helicopter into Arda.

(Thank you Du'linn for creating this.)
